A game’s Graphical User Interface (GUI) can be one of the most timeconsuming and most-iterated systems in your application. Although it may just look like a simple collection of images and text arranged prettily on the screen, good, usable, attractive, efficient, and friendly GUIs aren’t just stumbled upon after one quick sketch or two. Not only does the GUI need to provide the players with all the bits of pertinent information they may need at any time, it also needs to fit within the game’s artistic vision, not clutter up the screen, and be easy enough for anyone to use without instruction.
