Chapter 8. Scripting in Unity

If models, textures, and the like give your game environment a physical description and setting, then scripts and code chunks give your game and its contents life. Scripts define the basic interactions, behaviors, and rules of all the pieces in your game—without them you’d be hard pressed to call your scene file a game at all. One of Unity’s most powerful aspects is the way it incorporates scripts and their member pieces directly into the editor, allowing for fast, intuitive linking and manipulation of any GameObject in the scene.
