It’s time to put the pieces of the puzzle together and compile our texture pages. But before you begin, you must have a good idea of the texture pages you are allowed to use. Whether it be a single 1k (1024 × 1024) page, two larger pages, or multiple smaller pages, you will have limits to stay within. These limits are dictated mainly by the hardware in the target console, but the actual game itself will have an influence. For example, if our Ogre is to remain in the third-person perspective (camera behind and slightly above the character) with the player never being close to him, we can have smaller textures, but if the player will be close to the creature, we will need to see more detail, so the pages will need to be larger.
