SNMP

Chapter Six in this book had a section on SNMP that gives a one page overview of this protocol. SNMP is a widely used protocol and even the latest developed NMS solutions provide support for SNMP considering that most of the existing network elements support only management using SNMP. This chapter is intended to give the reader a more detailed coverage on SNMP, including its different versions that show how this management protocol evolved over various versions. SNMP MIB has been excluded from this chapter.
