Abstract

For over a century residential communications has been a fact, and has progressed from a single telephone connected to an operator, who could connect you to another telephone. We have progressed from this to services that can bring video, voice, and data services into the home with ever-increasing speeds. A number of technologies have been used, with fiber-to-the-home (FTTH) being the penultimate medium for transporting data into and out of the home.
