Creating Archives

After transferring media from field storage to your edit drives, we strongly recommend archiving that media in a format that is more long-term than portable field drives. The truth is that all hard drives fail. The spinning platters eventually give out and data loss occurs. Additionally, you’ll probably want to reuse your portable field drives for other shoots.

The primary concern is that you don’t want to be in the situation of not having a backup of your original footage if your edit drive should fail. To help solve this problem, you can create archives of your data from your portable drives.
