Conclusion

This chapter has focused on the leader’s proactivity and ability to attain results. Several key processes that effective leaders use in obtaining results, specifically the skills of problem solving and decision making, were presented. The need to think clearly about complex issues is crucial (McGinn, 2007; Vestal, 2009d). Two additional approaches, appreciative inquiry and polarity management, are included to broaden the leader’s repertoire. These skills, combined with the interpersonal skills that previous chapters delineated, increase the leader’s ability and credibility.
