Empowering Others

One of the most important processes that any leader can undertake today is transferring responsibility to others, often known as empowering them. Unfortunately, empowerment is also one of the least understood of the key processes. Although empowerment became a buzzword in the 1990s, many never went beyond giving lip-service to the concept. Use of the term today often brings cynicism and horror stories that seem to substantiate the ineffectiveness of empowerment. However, leaders who found ways to operationalize the implied promise of empowerment can point to dramatic results.
