A vivid, vibrant sense of mission that provides a focus for both individual leaders as well as organizations is the second step of forming normative commitment. Clarity of mission provides focus in a world that can feel fragmented and out of control at times. Organizations and individuals who define and understand their primary purpose are much less likely to be distracted by all of the other choices that fight for their attention.
