There is a tendency within the library profession to look at various technologies as they emerge and explore their use in public libraries. More often than not there is a certain amount of shoehorning of technology into a library context simply to provide an excuse to use the technology. While many public libraries could indeed benefit from an injection of technology, it is important not to lose sight of the wider purpose of the library.
