HIDDEN RULES AND THE THREE RS

We sometimes describe the three Rs as the three rules of success; if you prefer, you can think of them as the different strokes you need to play a sport well. For example, if you want to be really good at golf, you need a good drive so that you can hit the ball a long way, a good short game so that you can get out of bunkers, and the ability to putt the ball once you are on the green. If you emphasize any two of these and neglect the third, you might be a good golfer but you are unlikely to be a truly great golfer. You might get on the green in two strokes but then take three or four strokes to putt the ball; or if you slice every ball off the tee, it is unlikely that your putting will make up for it.
