As you perform this exercise, you may find natural connections. For example, you may know that your friend Sue is looking for a new babysitter and that Sandra's daughter just finished her babysitting course. Why not connect the two? They'll be thankful you did.

1. General Contacts

These are the people you meet, but who don't seem to have a specific place in your professional network yet. An immediate connection was not established. They are not identified as potential clients nor have specific reasons for follow-up been identified. These are miscellaneous contacts, family, friends, and former colleagues who have no current business relevance for you. People in the general category will likely form the bulk of your network.

Keep notes about each person as we discussed in previous chapters. I often look to my general contacts to connect other people with services.
