Chapter 20. BEYOND BEHAVIOR—USING THE DISC MODEL TO UNDERSTAND WHAT MOTIVATES PEOPLE

In describing the DISC model, we use behaviors as a way to make the differences between people more clear. We talk about behaviors for a number of reasons. The biggest reason we focus on behaviors is to keep our description focused on what we can clearly see and observe.

The model also gives us other insights to use in all of our communications with other people. As you understand more about what the model can teach, you will develop clearer and deeper insights to make your goal-setting, coaching, performance management, and motivation efforts significantly more effective.
