DHCP Server Daemon

FreeBSD does not come with the software required to run a DHCP server. However, there is free software available in the FreeBSD ports collection for running a DHCP server. The port, called isc-dhcp3, is available in the net directory of the ports tree. See Chapter 15, “Installing Additional Software,” for information on how to install ports.

In addition, there is a program called dhcpconf, which is also available in the FreeBSD ports collection under the net directory, which helps you create the configuration files necessary to run a DHCP server on FreeBSD.

When isc-dhcp3 is installed, it will create a startup file in /usr/local/etc/rc.d called isc-dhcpd.sh.sample. The next time you restart your system, this file will cause ...
