Chapter 24. Connecting to the Internet with PPP

In This Chapter

PPP stands for Point-to-Point Protocol. It is the protocol that is used for most dial-up Internet connections. FreeBSD comes with two forms of PPP. The first is kernel PPP, which is the pppd daemon. As the name suggests, this form of PPP is implemented at a kernel level. User PPP on the other hand, runs in userland. Both forms have their advantages and disadvantages and will be discussed later in this chapter.
