FreeBSD's startup process, like that of most UNIX-like operating systems, provides you with a lot of information before it gives you a command prompt. This startup can be more complex than operating systems such as Windows or Mac OS. However, as long as you run the right system on the correct hardware, a full startup (including the launch of all its services, or “daemons”) can be just as quick as that of a desktop OS.
