Getting Help in the Shell

This chapter can't even begin to cover all the commands that are available from the shell; nor can it even cover all of the options that are available for the commands that it does cover. But FreeBSD includes an extensive set of online manuals that document each command and its various options. To access the manual page for a command, type man commandname. For example, to read the manual page for the man command itself, type man man.

You can use the spacebar, the arrow keys, and the Page Up/Page Down keys to review the contents of the manual page.
