Graphics and Images

There are several graphics programs and image-editing programs available for FreeBSD such as the Gimp for image editing and Xfig for drawing figures and illustrations. All the programs below are available for free in the FreeBSD ports collection.

The GIMP

The GIMP stands for The GNU Image Manipulation Program. It is a freely available and open-source image-editing program maintained by the GNU project. It has many advanced features such as the layers and filters. If you have worked with a program such as Adobe Photoshop before, most of GIMP's features will be familiar to you. Getting used to the layout of GIMP however, may take some time.
