Chapter 4. Your First Session with FreeBSD

Unlike Windows, when you first start up FreeBSD, you are given a text mode command prompt. Also, unlike some versions of Windows, FreeBSD requires you to log in to the system before you can use it. This chapter will show you how to log in to FreeBSD and how to start the X-Windows system. It will also help you become acquainted with the Gnome Desktop Environment.
