This chapter covers several topics related to analyzing the existing backup and recovery environment. This process uncovers many inefficiencies specific to the client environment under study, but also covers many problems inherent in outdated backup environments that grow incrementally over time until they’re altogether inefficient. The EMC tool Backup Assessment Using Quick Scripts (Backup Assessment) output is the basis for the discussion in this chapter.
