Chapter 6. Color Models

Image

The exercises in this chapter will encourage you to consider color as a relational element in your compositions. Just as values relate to one another—one can’t be considered lighter without being lighter than another—color is dependent on its surrounding context. Color can be studied in vector graphics or bitmap art. Since adjusting color in a digital photograph is more complex than adjusting color in a flat graphic, you’ll learn about color through the lens of photo editing (forgive the pun). You’ll use adjustment layers and explore the Gradient and Transparency panels while learning the basic tenets of color theory.
