Healing and counselling in a traditional spiritual setting

Introduction

This essay presents an account of healing I have witnessed in the presence of my guru, Shri Ramchandra Bapuji Ambekar (1904-1990). In the first part of this essay I provide a description of the setting in which he sat for several hours three evenings every week listening to, and counselling, a stream of visitors. Then I present an overview of his life history and that of his guru, Shri Raosaheb Sahasrabuddhe, based on their published biographies. Shri Ambekar’s perspective on his work based on an extensive interview follows, as does an explanation of the principles underlying the healing process as reflected in their biographies.
