One of the most popular video-game genres is the platform game. It’s the type of game where you run and jump around a game world to solve puzzles, collect objects, or vanquish enemies. The “platforms” refer to the ledges and boxes the game characters can jump on to explore the world. Platform games are fun to make and also pose some very interesting programming and design challenges.
