This chapter presents a discussion of a variety of pollutants including hazardous air pollutants (HAPs), organic and inorganic, and acid gases. It begins with a discussion of the environmental and health effects of organic and hazardous air pollutants and acid gases, followed by discussions on the occurrence of trace elements, organic compounds, and halogens in fossil fuels, and the formation and emissions of these pollutants. It concludes with discussions on the control technologies and their costs.
