4.    V-pleats

This chapter has the potential to turn the technique of pleating into an extreme sport. The concepts it presents can be developed to ever greater levels of difficulty, to create relief surfaces and 3-D forms of impressive complexity.

But do not panic! Remarkable results can be achieved with even the simplest V-pleating. This is because almost all V-pleats are dynamic: they have the ability to make a surface expand and contract, and bend and twist in many directions. They have no fixed form, permitting movement in a wide variety of ways, depending on the placement of the folds.
