ONE PROBLEM WITH PHOTOGRAPHING PEOPLE is that people often act different when they know they are being photographed. Most of us aren’t too comfortable in front of the camera, but even those who are tend to pose or behave unnaturally when a lens is pointed at them.

Street photography overcomes this problem. Instead of asking for permission, setting up lights, and working with your subjects, you are photographing people in their “natural habitat.” You might capture a businessman engrossed in a conversation on his BlackBerry on his way to work, a street performer taking a rest, or a tourist in awe of a famous monument.
