Fluids

This chapter discusses the influence of fluid characteristics on flow measurement. A meter’s accuracy depends on the fluid’s physical properties. If these change considerably with small changes in temperature and pressure, then the meter will not achieve its potential accuracy.

The parameters that define low risk fluids are listed, as are the factors that cause a fluid to be classified as “high risk to measure”. Fluid flow must be single phase for basic meter accuracy to be meaningful. The problems with two-phase and multiphase fluids are discussed.
