4. Building Blocks

After the last chapter you should have a basic understanding of XAML syntax, the Win8 XAML namespaces, and navigating a XAML tree. If you’re new to XAML you may not feel very confident about your skills yet, but don’t worry too much. It’s hard to learn a language’s syntax—any language, whether it’s XAML or Swahili—out of context, and you’ll be getting lots of in-context XAML practice in the rest of the book.

So enough of this theoretical stuff; it’s time to take those skills and models you’ve been developing and start putting them to work. We’ll begin in this chapter by exploring the basic building blocks of a Win8 app.
