1 Developing with Flex and Rails

There’s no better way to learn new technology than to see it run, make changes, and see what happens as a result. As we walk through examples in the book, you’ll be running the sample code as we go, so set up your environment to build and run Flex and Rails applications. You’re encouraged to change the examples in any way you’d like.

What’s great about the Flex and Rails ecosystem is that all the software you need to build production-ready applications is freely available, as long as you don’t mind using your favorite text editor. For the best experience working with Flex, though, you’ll probably want to use Flex Builder.
