Video in Flash

Video files are large, and editing video can consume a lot of time. The real challenge is compressing the video—not putting it into Flash. Okay, everybody wants to do video. But you have been warned.

Once you have a video file, open Flash’s File menu and select “Import.” Then, depending on the file format of the video file, you may be given an option to “embed” or “link to” the video. The correct choice is “embed,” unless you are going to export your Flash movie as a QuickTime file (typically, you would not do that).

If you import a video file to the Stage, a dialog box will ask if you want to add a huge number of frames to the Timeline. Click Yes. If you import to the Library, you’ll get that question later, when ...
