Ron Strauss (indexer) specializes in the indexing of information technology publications of all kinds. Ron is also an accomplished classical violist and lives in northern California with his wife and fellow indexer, Annie, and his miniature pinscher, Kanga.

Tina Spargo (technical reviewer), her husband (and professional musician) Ed, their preschooler Max, their two silly Spaniels, Parker (Clumber), and Piper (Sussex), all share time and space in their suburban Boston home. Acknowledgements

Thanks to all the pros on the Missing Manual team who brought this book to print or screen as the case may be. Nan Barber, my editor, has skillfully guided me through several of these projects. Her work is much appreciated. Thanks to Kristen Borg who helped coordinate the manuscript files flying back and forth and to Julie Keuren for her copy editing eagle eye. Once again, thanks to Tina Spargo and Keith Gladstien for the technical review. I’ve written over ten books now and I’m overdue with a couple of acknowledgements. First of all, thanks to my Mom and the many other writers in our family. What a great gift we’ve passed through the generations. While I’m at it, thanks to my sister who taught me how to read before I went to school. We still share books and our love of reading every day. As always, thanks and love to my wife, Joyce, who supports me in everything I do.

The Missing Manual Series

Missing Manuals are witty, superbly written guides to computer products that don’t come with printed manuals (which is just about all of them). Each book features a handcrafted index and cross-references to specific pages (not just chapters).
