5. Controlling Multiple Timelines

To create interactivity and direct your users to see, hear, and experience exactly what you want, you have to know how to control the Flash playhead on different timelines. The playhead displays what is on the Stage at any moment, and triggers any actions attached to that keyframe. Jumping from frame to frame on the main movie Timeline is simple enough; you use basic actions you should be familiar with, such as gotoAndPlay(), gotoAndStop(), play(), and stop(). But when you include movie clip symbols in your movie, you introduce other independent timelines that can be controlled individually.
