7.2. Changing the Appearance of Text

Problem

You want to change the appearance of text, including the font and/or the properties of the font (size, color, bold, or italic).

Solution

Select the entire text field or highlight the portion of the text you want to modify, and then set the appropriate values using the Property inspector.

Discussion

Modifying the font and font properties of text fields in Flash is the same as in most other applications. If you select the entire text field with the Selection tool, you can modify all the text contained within it. On the other hand, to modify a portion of the text, use the Text tool to highlight the part that you want to change. In either case, you can modify the font and font properties from the Property inspector.

You can also modify the appearance of dynamic text fields using HTML tags. See Recipe 8.12 for more information on how to accomplish this.
