When the Minneapolis I-35W Bridge collapsed on August 1, 2007, it couldn't have happened at a worse time. It was the middle of the evening commute and untold numbers of cars and trucks were on the bridge when it went down in those fateful few seconds. Not only were the massive bridge's roadway parts in the Mississippi River, but hundreds of people were struggling for survival in the chaos.
