The Fuck-Up…

There are countless aspiring directors of photography out there. To beat out the competition and get work, many will offer the use of their equipment for little or no cost. As you can imagine, this is a tempting offer for an indie film on a tight budget. However, hiring a director of photography solely based on who will give the best deal on equipment is a classic rookie mistake—one that shows an underappreciation of a D.P.’s job and can cost the look your film dearly.
