After you have a sense of how many days you’ll need the various people and equipment necessary to take to make your movie, the next step is finding out what they cost per day, week, or month. You’ll call rental houses, crew members, and colleagues with prior budgeting experience to get prices. And while this is very valuable research, the mistake new filmmakers make is in believing these numbers simply “are what they are.”
