Shooting a location you have not seen is going to go about as well as shooting a script you have not read. Scouting is one of the best tools you have to plan your shoot and to get your crew informed ofthat plan ahead of time. New filmmakers often underappreciate the importance of scouting, only to show up on a shoot day and discover all sorts of problems that they could have prepared for and fixed ahead of time had they only scouted properly.
