The Fuck-Up…

Many filmmakers try to minimize the involvement of lawyers because

1. Lawyers are expensive.

2. Lawyers can slow things down.

3. Lawyers can rain on your creative parade by telling you what you shouldn’t do.

All the preceding statements are true, but that doesn’t outweigh the benefits of having a good lawyer involved in your movie. Sure, lawyers can be very expensive, but not having one is a mistake that can cost you a whole lot more: it could cost you money, it could cost you your movie, and it could cost you your freedom.
