Chapter 10. Into the Future

In this final chapter, I look at what I see as important influences on the field of human resources and training today. My intention here is to provide brief definitions of emergent trends and then to describe how each influences planning. I focus on five trends here: the convergence of learning and work; the convergence of analysis and evaluation; relationship management; all things 2.0; and dueling views of cognitive science. Technology, that other significant force, has been discussed throughout the book.
