BPON and DSL

BPON and DSL are two technologies that can be seamlessly integrated. Both are TDM based. BPON feeds directly to a DSL network through a DSL access multiplexer (DSLAM) architecture as described in Chapter 7, “DSL Technologies.” Here the advantage is of a simplified interface (and therefore management). Because both technologies are TDM based, the management becomes very simple. TDM management itself is expensive, but the uniformity in the solution is a distinct advantage.
