Interfacing Requirements in the First Mile Access Space
The vast number of different technologies in the first mile means that there is a substantial amount of interfacing between multiple technologies. Interoperability between these technologies is crucial to ensure an end-to-end solution. This chapter covers different approaches that help build the first mile network. This chapter should be viewed as a possible vision for the future, because most of the proposals in this chapter are not yet formalized; they are just guidelines for engineers to design the next generation of first mile networks.
