In this chapter, we have showcased the business case analysis of first mile networks. The chapter illustrates a method to build a business case for first mile networks. We show how to build the access network, taking into account the network economics as well as technology factors.

The chapter treats four levels of business case analysis for the first mile. In the first level, we study the applications of the first mile—the bandwidth-killer applications that are the key motivators of the first mile network.
