QoS in the First Mile

Networks worldwide can be characterized primarily by two parameters: the quantity of service and the quality of service. The quantity of service is the net throughput (goodput) offered by the network, whereas the quality of service (QoS) is a set of parameters that characterize class of the throughput that is offered.
