Integrated Services (IntServ)

The term IntServ refers to an overall QoS architecture that guarantees end-to-end QoS for applications that need it. Such guarantees ensure that applications that have a minimum bandwidth requirement and that have a maximum bound on end-to-end delay have their needs met. In IntServ, service classes have been defined to meet the needs of the end users for various application types. The service group established the IntServ tenets also defined how RSVP (Reservation Protocol) could be used as a signaling protocol for ensuring QoS for end-to-end streams.
