Of the many solutions seen so far in this book for solving the first mile access problem, we can conclusively map out a three-pronged approach. This trident of solutions is focused on wireless-, optical-, and copper-based mediums. Each of these three is discussed in details in Chapters 4, “Data Wireless Communication,” 2, “Passive Optical Networks in the First Mile,” and 8, “Power-Line Communication,” respectively.
