802.11g

The 802.11g standard operates at the same 2.4-GHz frequency band. It is same as 802.11b, but data transfer can happen up to 54 Mbps. It is backward compatible with 802.11b. This means that the users can in-service upgrade (gradual) from 802.11b to g. Due to high data transfer rates and because of the overall user friendliness, 802.11g is expected to become the de facto standard for 802.11 networks.
