Technicalities of CWDM

Service providers are currently evaluating architectures that enable them to offer efficient metro services and last mile transport services, typically to their end customers. The plug-and-play feature of Ethernet, along with its low cost, enables service providers to offer new services rapidly and economically. Ethernet's capability to provide seamless integration across LANs, MANs, and WANs is motivating enterprises and service providers to migrate from traditional circuit-based networks to an Ethernet or packet-based network. Due to low costs and commercial availability, CWDM systems are becoming widely accepted as an important transport architecture.
