6.13 CLOSING REMARKS

In this chapter, one-dimensional finite element analysis of engineering problems is described. The direct as well as minimum potential energy methods in Chapter 4 are used in the analysis. Linear type line elements are used in the problem analysis. Engineering problems of axial bar, plane and space truss, beam, frame, grid, pipe flow, electrical networks, porous media flow, torsion problem and heat conduction are discussed as sample applications. Few sample problem analysis are also demonstrated. Sample Matlab programs are presented in the Appendix, which can be used to solve similar types of problems.
