You’re only interviewing a few people. The job has very straightforward requirements. If the candidate meets those requirements, you’ll know within five minutes of the interview. So, you think, surely you don’t need to take notes. You’ll remember the highlights of each person. After all, you’ll have the application form in front of you. That will jar your memory, if need be.

If you don’t think you need to take notes during the interview, think again. It may be easy to remember exactly what a candidate has said if he was the only candidate interviewed. But when you are interviewing multiple candidates for an open position, or worse yet, multiple candidates for multiple open positions, it becomes far more challenging. ...
