Account Fortnightly, or sometimes three-weekly, trading period on a stock exchange.

Actuary A statistician, usually employed by an insurance company, who calculates risk.

Advisory broker A stockbroker who advises clients on their investments as well as buying and selling on their behalf.

Agency brokers In the UK, broker/dealers who act as agents between market makers and investors.

Allotment price In a tender for gilts, the price allotted to successful tenders. In a gilts auction, non-competitive bids are allotted a price that is the weighted average of successful competitive bids.

Annual charge Management fees levied on investments, often as a percentage of their value.
